The problem
Ghana has roughly 800,000 cocoa-farming households and far fewer extension officers than that. Written advice does not reach a farmer who reads little English, and a wrong answer about spraying can cost a season or hurt someone.
How it works
A farmer sends a voice note in Twi or Fante. It is transcribed, domain terms are corrected against a cocoa lexicon, and the question is routed to reviewed content.
The language model never writes agronomy advice. It only selects which expert-approved blocks answer the question. Answers are assembled from those blocks and spoken back.
The safety design
Any answer involving chemicals automatically carries the protective-equipment guidance — and if that block is missing, the system refuses rather than giving unprotected advice.
Low-confidence and out-of-scope questions go to a human extension officer, and the farmer is told plainly that a person will follow up. That is the designed failure mode, not an edge case.
Honest state
The software is finished and tested. The content pack of 40 blocks is drafted and owner-approved, but three chemical blocks are held back because they name products without verified dosages or re-entry intervals.
It also cannot speak yet: the blocks still need human Twi translation. Machine translation is not safe for text spoken as authoritative advice.
This product is built and testable. It is not yet available to the public.
